Christian Ramilo is both an artist and a programmer. With his knowledge and liaison in both art and technology, he created the trigger, Ugong: Voices and Music of Philippine Facebook Feeds. It was just composed of linguistic communication projected on white cloth. It may look likewise plain and minimalistic for some, but I found it to be inviting. The words on the cloth, no matter how unrelated they may seem, werent just chosen through a random word generator. Ramilo actually created a program that could acquire Facebook billet updates of Filipinos all over the world.



He then apply an algorithm that would reckon the frequency of usage for every word in the acquired status updates. The most frequently used words would then be projected on the cloth; the bigger the font size is, the more frequent the word is being used in status updates.

As an amateur programmer, I was amazed by the incorporation of programming with art. I thought that the usage of the word count algorithm added a sense of mystery to the installation since it took words out of context.
