In this lab we will be focusing on transformation of a bacterium, Escherichia Coli (E.coli), with a recombinant plasmid.

After a cell dies, it lyses and releases DNA which is called raw(a) DNA. If naked DNA is recognized by cell-surface receptors, the DNA can be taken up, but only at a certain stage of the cell cycle when the cell jetty is not completely synthesized.
