Iligan City has many rivers that are connected to each different from mountainous areas to the city itself. One of these rivers is Mandulog River. This is located between Brgy. Tambo Gerona and Brgy. Hinaplanon. other river found in Iligan City is the Tubod River which is located between Brgy. Mahayahay and Brgy. Tubod. These twain rivers are now being threatened by piss pollution. Using these rivers as a source of lifespan of the residents living near the river can cause the river to be polluted.
There pitch been many illegal and harmful activities of residents that can affect the wet quality of the river such as quarrying. Quarrying affects the quality of the river since the nullify and soil that has been used are directly put into the river. wash drawing soaps from washing clothes and bathing in the riverbank, improper governance of different wastes and industrial waste that are mixed in the river can lead to bad quality of the water. It can as well increase the growth of different organisms such as algae which result to algal bloom. These activities, pressures and stresses are known to be the just about of the major causes that can affect the water quality of the dickens rivers.




Though water quality testing can be done in several ways, another way is to go steady the benthic macro invertebrates population. The common rendering of benthic macroinvertebrates is: benthic, living in the bottom, usually in amaze or rocks; macro, large enough to see with the naked shopping center; and invertebrate, animals without backbone.
According to Calisle et al. (2007) Macro invertebrates population in streams and rivers can assist in the assessment of the overall wellness of the stream.
