Experimental Method
1. Two groups ordain work in class, and for separately one group has one of the submergible pumps.
2. A pipe for attempt has to be selected and carefully screw the fitting to the outlet of the submersible pump.
3. Roll out the pipe on the floor aboard the concrete channel sump that it is relatively straight, and check that it does not contain kinks (where the pipe twists and folds on itself, obstructing flow).
4. Use a band tied to the handle to lower the pump onto the water carefully.
5. contain the discharge end of the pump at a unshakable elevation between and measure this relative to the water advance in the sump.?Elevation between 0.5m and 2 m spunkyer up the water level?. There must be bounteous space for the bucket under the end of the pipe.
6. The pump will be switched on at the power supply and set aside the flow in the pipe to reach a smashed rate. (Hold the end over the sump)
7. By using the stopwatch, the exact period taken to take on a bucket of known flock will be recorded. Repeat this several times for the corresponding outlet elevation to reduce the effect of random error.
8. pervert 2 to 7 will be repeated for each pipe diameter and length combination, trialling different elevation at each time. A broad range will be covered (short and long pipe, small and large diameter, low and high static lift).
By following these steps the data has been collected, which is cover below:
