There were not many Syria people living in the United States before the second half of the 19th Century, immigration began slowly, and by the 1880s, there were a substantial number of Syrian immigrants here. No one can say for certain where we all came from, because until 1920 Syria included the countries now called Lebanon, Palestine, and Jordan.
